Building Business Insurance Leads Through Relationships

Today’s insurance agent has to be adept at more that just generating business insurance leads. Regardless of your specialty, whether it’s selling home owners insurance, life insurance or any other type of insurance, customers want to have a relationship with you.
As you already know, commission rates vary with each type of insurance plan you sell. For example, life and auto insurance are usually among the best selling and commissions are usually high. On the other hand, business insurance is typically not as profitable. This is due to the the high competition because business are required to buy insurance.
The key that an insurance agent must follow to increase his or her income, is to build valuable relationships with your clients. This method helps you achieve long-term profitability through referrals and repeat business.
The best time to build a solid relationship with a client is when he’s in the process of building his new business. Be there to answer any of his questions. Refer his to people who may help him in other areas of his business. Once this relationship is built, the client will come to you for all his insurance needs. This includes life and auto insurance in addition to his business insurance.
Once the relationships, you can become a bit more aggressive to increase business. If you have a strong bond with your customer, let him know when you have a better rate than the competition. Take him to lunch, send him regular email blast and above all else be genuine. The result will be a satisfied customer who will refer all their business insurance lead to you
